I have worn these boots for about a year now in every type of weather that Alabama has thrown at me and feel qualified to make a review now.
These boots look like many other rubber type boots on the market but deliver a lot of bang for the buck. I believe the cost was $156 at Bass Pro Shops and Came in Realtree Xtra Green. There is a 7mm offering as well but I thought that would be over kill here in Alabama where it was 70 degrees in December this year.
First thing I noticed was that these are EXTREMELY comfortable and fairly lightweight for a rubber type boot. I have had multiple knee operations and usually need to get some type of athletic insole to use for any boots I will be doing any serious hiking in. Not so with the Aeroheads. I have walked miles in these boots and not been any worse off than when I wear my athletic shoes.
I found the sizing spot on and bought a size larger to accommodate a couple pair of wool socks.
The tread pattern is fairly aggressive and I have never had any issues with slipping even on a slippery stand in the early morning.
In terms of camo (I love camo) the Realtree Xtra pattern is just as great now as it was the day I bought them and although i don't wash them they have held up well aesthetically.
The boots stay plenty warm to 4o degrees or so and when it dips below that I throw a hand warmer in each boot and wear Arctic Shield Boot Insulators over my boots.
I have waded through many streams in these boots and have never had them leak at all. Obviously if a rubber type boot leaks it aint worth a lick.
The top of the boots have a latch to secure them against your legs snugly (think the same metal latch system found on many baseball caps) one of the boots latch is extremely hard to cinch closed and I am waiting for it to stop working altogether.
There is also a significant scratch in the rubber guard that runs most of the way up the front of the boot. I got my foot caught in a bramble and when I brought my leg forward it created a deep scratch. The scratch is not leaking as was my fear when it happened, though I have questioned weather the rubber guard should be a little more resistant to such common things.
Over all I am very satisfied with these boots and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a lightweight comfortable, waterproof boot.
