I have used this suit for the entire season now and wanted to post a review. The suit is uninsulated although the jacket has a zip out sherpa vest. It also comes with Rainblocker, and Windblocker Technology as well as Trinity Scent Control.
I believe the price was around $450 Retail for the jacket/pants combo. I chose Realtree Xtra because It matches every other piece of camo I have. The fit of the jacket was spot on but the pants were about a half size small so I went a size up and that was perfect for layering anyway.
The first thing I noticed was that the pocket locations seem well thought out with the exception of the back left pocket that is noticeably absent. The pockets also seem small to me and during the late season I found myself concerned that I would break or tear a zipper. The cargo pockets have the zipper on the side which I found great for when I am sitting down and need to get something out without the worry of drawing attention to stand up.
The leg zippers are on the inside for a more relaxed and natural way to zip up around your boots. I have never understood why manufacturers place the leg zippers on the outsides of the legs.
The pants have some elastic stretch around the waist band as well as a built in belt which is handy and makes for a perfect fit.
The Jacket has a zip out Sherpa vest liner and is extremely versatile. The Vest is camo on one side and brown on the other and is reversible. I always find myself using it camo side facing my skin.
There were no draw string bungies around the waist that I did on occasion find myself reaching for. There is also a non-detachable hood with a small viser. It would have been nice to have a zipper on the hood to remove it if needed.
I have, at this point, worn the suit in all types of Alabama weather. I have sat in 35 degree torrential rain with driving wind and was super impressed with the suits ability to keep me dry. The wind factor is absolutely removed from the equation and as every hunter knows nothing will shorten a hunt faster than wind and rain. Both are addressed and defeated in perfect order with the Outfitter. The benefits of wind and rain protection can not be over stated when you are far from home. These two issues are make or break for any hunting suit.
The jacket comes with an zip on/off armguard that can be worn of either arm and while thoughtful is over engineered. I bowhunt during the entire season but I feel that if you have decent shooting form you will rarely need to worry about arm protection and the jacket is not bulky enough that it has ever interfered with my ability to shoot, so the arm guard stays on the table in the garage along with all the other useless stuff I don't need.
The jacket also has a handy slot in the back that you can slide your harness tether through making it possible to wear your harness under your jacket on cold days. This is a great feature and you may not think you need it; once you have owned a jacket with this feature you will likely refuse to own one without it again.
The suit is relatively quiet and I think that is hard to accomplish while remaining water and wind proof. The suit does make a small amount of noise but no so much that you would ever get busted.
I have washed the suit probably 5 times now and have not noticed any fading of the camo.
I don't believe that there is any way to fool a deers nose 100% of the time but i do feel that this suit will significantly reduce your scent signature.
In closing, if you are looking for a great suit that is extremely versatile for all kinds of weather conditions; this is your suit. If you wear it during cold weather you will find plenty of room to layer up underneath. If you wait till after deer season you will likely find this suit at half the MSRP and at a discounted price you may find that it's the best money you have ever spent on hunting clothes.
